Discussion:
Freeloader 1.0.6B available as ISO image?

My brother wants to play NTSC games on his PAL GameCube. I'm on a
little venture here to find out what he needs, and I guess Freeloader
1.0.6B is the thing.

However, I'd like to get a hold of an entirely free Freeloader, since
I'm a freeloader. Is there any such thing as an ISO-image that can be
burned on a CD or DVD out there that'll do the trick?

Or should I just go out and buy the thing for him?

TIA, K.

Even if there was, 1) you can't fit a CD or DVD in a GC[1], and 2) You'd need
something to boot it. Like a Freeloader...

Well, that would be the Police-friendly legal route, yes.

[1] Yes, yes - mini-DVDs and Panasonic Qs.

You can now you can change the Cubes case.

Viper or Qoob chip with the right BIOS would negate the need for the
Freeloader at all. Or if you wanted to be particularly perverse, you
could boot a DVD copy of Freeloader from such a BIOS. I would however
not condone the latter option.

Indeed.

You can now you can change the Cubes case.
But wouldn't that mean the freeloaders that want to not pay anything for a
console fork out to change the cube's case and all. Hmm, not so free as the
other chips for the other consoles is it? :D

Not so easy either. Don't see a point in chipping the GC to be honest but
whatever floats peoples boats. :)

Oh you should be able to find a 2nd hand freeloader for like £2-5. Saw one
at that price at Gamestation once. Not sure what version it was however.

Well, changing the case is optional at the end of the day. You can
continue with the original case and use the 8cm disks if you wish.

Easier than any of the other soldered solutions for the XBox or PS2.

Well, there's clearly an obvious point to doing it for the pirates, and
for some "hardcore" users, there is also the region free and homebrew
aspects to be considered.

Which will not boot *everything*.

Horses for courses and all that.

I blame Datel for being naff and not actually bothering to update the thing
now. I think the US version of the Freeloader/Action Replay gets more done
than what Europe offices can be bothered with.

you can fit full size dvds in a gc if you replace the cover with a viper top
but you can not but unsigned code on a unmodded console so you would need it
chipped
